Superior results over other technologies
SWAN advantages make a difference for operators of offshore oil platforms whose remote location makes the cost-of either equipment failure or a false alarm-very high.

SWANtech's innovative Stress Wave Analysis (SWAN) technology provides superior results over other technologies used in condition monitoring applications, such as vibration analysis, oil and lubrication analysis, infrared thermography, and corrosion analysis. SWAN technology over other techniques because it:

  • Provides the Earliest Detection of Damage: Because the technology is based upon ultrasonic sound waves, even the slightest contact between machine parts that produces friction or shock results in a detectable sound that, when converted into energy, differs from the energy patterns produced by healthy equipment.
  • Quantifiable Measurement of Damage and Trendable Parameters: SWAN technology captures and measures the total energy content generated by friction and shock events occurring in the machine. This information enables technicians to know the exact extent of damage and the rate of damage progression.
  • Pinpoints Source of Damage: SWAN technology measures the frequency of shock and friction events that are indicators of component damage. The repetitive nature of the events is analyzed in detail according to geometry and the speed of the moving parts, making it possible to identify the specific components and the location of the components involved.
  • Eliminates False Alarms: SWAN technology measures order of magnitude (500 - 1000 percent) increases in energy levels between healthy and damaged states of machine condition. As a result, trivial machine events do not cause significant increases in energy levels; this virtually eliminates false alarms.
  • Accommodates the Widest Range of Operating Environments: SWAN technology can operate on very low speed as well as high-speed machinery. It can also operate on any type of rotating or reciprocating machinery, including partial cycle machinery. This provides SWAN technology with widespread appeal in nearly all types of operating environments.
  • Generic Configurations for Types of Machines: SWAN technology can be configured for types of machinery and these configurations can be applied to all similar machines under study
  • Simple to Learn and Easy to Use: SWAN technology is easy to understand, and its products are simple and easy to operate. This significantly reduces operating costs.
  • Provides Continuous Online Monitoring: SWAN technology is ideal for continuous online monitoring.
